1very unhappy w/ productSep 07, 2010
Bought the coffee maker product for a friend. The coffee maker has a major water leak during the time when water is spraying on the coffee grounds.

Water leak problem , would like another type of coffee maker that doesn't leak on the countertop.

4Great Coffee Maker With Fancy LooksAug 11, 2010
I would like to start this review by stating that this is actually my third unit, the first two having to be returned due to faulty clocks.
For some reason the two coffee makers returned before this one wouldn't keep time, which rendered programmed brewing impossible.
This one works wonderfully though, and I am very pleased with it's quality and design.

My only complaint is that when removing the grinds after brewing is done, the thing WILL dribble water onto your counter.
There is no way to prevent this, and it is simply a fact of life that you must grow to accept...
So, make sure there are no important documents stored under your coffee maker, though honestly if you store important things under your coffee maker you deserve it.

Aside from that one water-dribbling issue, this is a great product.
It brews a very tasty pot of coffee, and keeps most all steam away from the counter-front when doing so.
(Our old Black&Decker SpaceMaker from the 1990's used to steam all over the cabinets, to the point of blemishing the finish)

Installation was no problem at all, I didn't even use the template that everyone is complaining about.
I simply held the mounting bracket to the underside of my cabinet and marked the screw holes with a Sharpie marker.
The thing was attached to my cabinetry within 15 minutes or so, just make sure you have an electric screw-gun and drill bits handy.

3Not made like they used to beJul 21, 2010
I bought this unit to replace my last spacemaker that stopped working after about 2 years. It does look sleeker, I like the green night-light shining down on the counter, and although I placed it in a different spot than my old one, I did not have any problem with the template enclosed with the directions. That said, however, I couldn't imagine why they didn't have the clock illuminated like the old one used to be- its effectively useless unless you are right in front of it and plan to set the timer. Then come to find out that the clock doesn't keep time, so I guess that explains it- I wouldn't want the wrong time broadcast across my kitchen! It makes coffee, and it fits under my counter, which of course are the two most important aspects of an under-the-counter coffee maker, so I won't bother to return the unit to see if the clock defect is common or not.

5GREAT!Jul 17, 2010
We had a spacemaker coffee pot for over 20 years. Broke the pot early on but substituted another and kept right on using it until we remodeled our kitchen. After using other coffeemakers including an expensive KRUPS, we decided to buy another spacemaker.

We could not be more pleased! It works great, looks good and we anticipate using it many years.

Now, forget about the holes matching the previous coffeemaker holes: that is just not correct.
This thing is a PTA to install but once in, it is not going anywhere. There is slight problem with the balance of the actual pot: the large handle sticks out quite a bit so that the pot feels heavy. It is actually no heavier than any other 12 cup coffee pot but the extra 4 inches of handle makes it just a little awkward to hold.

Other reviewers have talked about the difficulty in filling and spilling water from the reserviour but we find that no problem and in fact have spill no water. We constantly complained about the difficulty in pouring water into the small orifice of the KRUPS reserviour. Also, the Krups pot had a strange spout that always dripped under the stream of coffee while pouring.

Overall we are happy with the Spacemaker and will purchase again when this one dies, hopefully 20 years from now!

I don't like the water tank because it is hard to judge when it is full and it is easy to slop water on the floor. Other than that the unit is fine and delivery was prompt.
