4Capresso 560Jul 28, 2010
I have an older Capresso grinder that served for 4 years, it needed parts which are not available. so I purchased the 560. I am basically pleased with the machine. However, the bean hopper is tricky to remove an has stuck on me when trying to remove for cleaning. Why this happens is not clear. It grinds very good, reasonably quite, and fairly easy to clean, except the above noted issue.

5Great burr grinder!Jul 28, 2010
This burr grinder is great! It has made a huge difference in the quality of my espresso. I love the 16 different settings! It is very convenient for when I want espresso and when my husband wants french press. I also really like the other reviews on this product! They were very helpful in deciding to buy this machine. I would say that if you aren't happy with the coffee you are making now, you should definitely spend the little extra and get this grinder. It will keep you from spending money on overpriced drinks from coffee shops!

Well engineered, quality built grinder. This model corrected many of the short comings of our previous Capresso grinder. Uniform grind beginning to end.

4A Great Grind ForwardJul 26, 2010
This grinder, a huge step forward for the home coffee brewer, was recommended to me by a friend. Reading other reviews underscored the improvement over traditional grinders and felt I overwhelmed by the positive reasons to buy. It's obvious when you look at the difference between a traditional grinding result and the burr effect, that the conical burr method does its job. However, I have one complaint and one wish.

The complaint is that it's virtually impossible to follow the advice of keeping the metal grinding parts free of grounds. I like my coffee beans ground fine and it's simply not possible since only one component comes off. This also makes for a lot of waste since I suspect that the cavity between the bean container and the bottom cup where the ground coffee falls into is full of grounds. I have not figured out how to empty it into something rather onto the counter or in the sink. I'm not sure what effect the grounds I do not see will eventually have on the grinder.

My wish is that there was less plastic. The top container for the unground beans feels so fragile, especially when you are trying to line it up with the grinder so that it can be turned properly to the desired grind position. Plastic also adds to the static electricity that makes the grounds adhere and stick to all the parts - making cleaning all that more challenging. And of course, there is the constant threat of cracking or breaking. So how about it Jura? A metal option for holding the beans and the ground finished product? I'd pay a little more to eliminate petroleum-based plastic.

4a good grinderJul 26, 2010
This is a very good burr grinder for the money. It is geared down, which means it turns slowly and thus does result in powdered ground coffee [unfortunately, Capresso's cheaper (models 580 & 585) burr grinders spin fast, and the resulting powder is hard to clean and goes through a french press filter to make the coffee murky]. Also, if you aren't acquainted with grinders, many other ones are blade-types rather than burrs. Avoid them -- they grind unevenly and make powder. The 560's grounds are quite uniform, and the device is easy to clean. [Another warning -- this is my second 560, as I damaged the first one trying to take it apart to clean it after 3 or 4 years of use. The manual says "do not remove the bottom part of the grinder", but I didn't read that part until it was too late.] By the way, there was no wear on the burrs, even after years of daily use. One other note: my other Capresso was the stainless steel one, heavier and more expensive, but otherwise identical to the black plastic (but sturdy) one.
