Just what I wantedSep 03, 2010 This machine is exactly what I was looking for. It creates Cappuccinos and Espressos very well. I originally purchased it for the purpose of making cappuccinos because I really don't like the taste of coffee. This DeLonghi makes great cappuccinos in very little time.
Pros:
```Instructions are very clear
```Has attached frother
```Makes as much Espresso as advertised
```With the right coffee, can be strong (first time using it, I actually got the jitters)
```Friend of mine said it tastes the same, if not better than the cappuccinos he bought/made in Italy on industrial machines
``` Do not need to purchase paper filters
``` After 1st time using, was able to grasp how to use it completely (very easy)
``` Very inexpensive, but receive a quality product.
Cons:
``` Like most people said, the frother could be longer
As you may have noticed, I have truly enjoyed this machine. With a quality coffee and cappuccino mix (with milk to froth of course), this can save you plenty of money. I've already gotten my value out of it after only a few days. I may buy one for my brother's home as well. As a graduate student, this was much needed and it has performed as advertised.
Pretty goodAug 31, 2010 This product makes a great cup of espresso, and is pretty easy to use (if you read the manual--but then again I've never attempted to make coffee or espresso before, so maybe it's just me). The steamer did not seem to work at all to steam the milk. I don't know what that is about..
It has died, already!!Aug 08, 2010 This is the third DeLonghi EC5 Steam-Driven Espresso and Cappuccino Maker I have owned. The first lasted for a few years. In fact, it wasn't dead when my daughter gave me a new one and told me to get rid of the old one. Well, that one lasted a year. And, so I replaced it with this one, and it lasted a few weeks. The water isn't heating enough to create steam, although it did for a few weeks.....
I am still trying to decide if I want to order the same model or go to a different brand. Maybe, DeLonghi has gone down the tubes???
Must brew espresso and steam milk at same time - boo!Jul 05, 2010 I was by no means looking for a high end espresso machine, just a functioning machine. This one is not. The espresso maker functions like a coffee maker (will brew until all water is gone). If you want to use the steam wand, you must add a certain amount of water (per directions) and steam at the same time you brew the coffee. Therefore, when the water runs out, you're done. You cannot steam milk unless the coffee is brewing. This design is completely ridiculous. I can't believe that there are so many positive reviews!! Prior to purchasing this machine, I had a Mr. Coffee low end espresso machine and it worked way better. I returned this one and purchased another Mr. Coffee.
Love this espresso makerJul 01, 2010 This machine is very sturdy, works quickly and makes just as good espresso as our previous foreign-made (and more expensive) machine. We don't do milk drinks, just black espresso, so I can't comment on the steamer attachment.
