 I would buy againJul 30, 2010
We do not know how long we have had this, but all in all we are satisfied. Today it stopped. Maybe a bean was stuck under the blades?! Maybe the various locking mechanisms were clogged with grounds? I also took a screwdriver and(unplugged) moved the on/off switch on the grinder edge(under the arrow) back and forth and then it ran. My wife wants on her stone(if the kids insist on one) that she made great coffee. Actually, as a Christian only the DOB is necessary.

Purchased it new for $12.00 (seemed like a bargain at the time)
Worked good for awhile then a little, poorly designed, plastic bump broke off of the clear plastic lid.
The grinder won't operate without that plastic bump.
I contacted Hamilton Beach who said for me to cut off the plug end and sent the plug end to them. $1.20 postage for that. Then for $8.00 shipping and handling they would send me a new grinder.
$8.00 + the $1.20 plug postage?
Not really worth jumping thru all of their hoops to save $1.80 is it?
Going to buy the same one. Put the old one in the new box and take it back.
At least I'll get twice the use time out of it for my original $12.00

I just got this coffee grinder today. It works well so far and the design of it is nice. I used it to grind up spices today. The stupid thing wouldn't open easily. I was struggling to open the thing and kept turning the darn thing off. I am taking it back.

Hamilton Beach coffee grinder model 80344. If you buy this because you like the cord storage feature, you will love it. If you buy it to grind coffee, you likely will not love it. To grind the beans you fill the top and lock it onto the grinding unit with a twist. After grinding the beans you have to unlock to top with a twist, turn the grinder upside down, remove the top and pour from the top into your coffee maker. That is where the trouble is. The top is difficult to lock and to unlock if you have small hands, arthritis, or both. The top is a tight fit and may come off abruptly, causing spills. I would recommend shopping around for something better. I'm returning this one.
Just what I neededNov 22, 2009
This grinder is just what I needed: a fast, easy way to grind beans fresh for every pot. I had one for about 6 months, dropped it on the floor of the kitchen and broke it, and was disconsolate until my husband was able to find another one.
I like a very very fine grind - no problem,
I like easy clean-up - no problem - just wipe out with a paper towel, I dislike cords - no problem, this one just winds right into the base.
I have had no trouble with the locking mechanism or the button.
I don't think it would actually grind enough coffee for a 15-cup pot, though (I usually only make 4-6 cups, so it's not an issue)
