Description:

For decades, Krups has produced kitchen appliances inspired by experts and consumers with uncompromising standards of performance and quality. Recently, Krups commissioned acclaimed Swedish designer Bjorn Dahlstrom to design a coffee machine that combines pleasing aesthetics with superior performance. Krups is proud to introduce a product of this collaboration: the KM4065. With a brushed stainless steel body and uniquely situated control panel, the KM4065 brews a perfect cup of coffee while looking great on your countertop. The advanced brewing system features a powerful 1,100 watt heating element to produce consistently hot coffee by brewing at the optimal temperature, 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit. A wide dispersion shower head evenly distributes hot water over the coffee grounds for even extraction. The forward angled control panel provides easy access to all programmable options which include: dual auto-on settings for weekday and weekend start times, and an aroma function for stronger coffee. Adjustable auto-off allows you to keep brewed coffee hot for 1, 2 or 3 hours. Large release lid button and auto lift brew basket makes removing coffee grounds easy; the sturdy, 12- cup glass carafe has clear markings near the handle for better visibility. Krups’ exclusive Duo Filter water filtration system removes water impurities while ensuring a long life for your machine. 1 year limited warranty.

4So Far So GoodJul 26, 2010
So Far, So Good: Krups KM4065

I wanted to share my experience with this coffee maker after reading so many widely varying reviews. Note that I've only had this unit a few weeks but I'd like to state my initial observations:

1. In my opinion, this coffee maker is not any louder than my previous Cuisinart coffee maker. The noise it does make is reasonable I think.

2. The carafe, while on the light side, does pour just fine. In fact I had a hard time making it spill. Perhaps there may be some variations with the lip on the carafes that may explain some of the complaints about spillage. Again, the carafe for my unit is good.

3. I have not had any issues pouring the water into the unit for brewing. However I would prefer a more direct measuring system as I prefer to make 5 cups and the "meter" measures in 2-cup increments.

4. I have not had any issues (so far) with the filter folding during the brewing cycle.

5. Hiding the cord into the back of the unit does take some patience.

6. The temperature of the coffee is fine in my opinion.

As for the taste of the coffee? good as far as I can tell. Also, I like the styling and relatively small counter footprint. So, thus far I have been happy with the coffee maker.

1Poor design will frustrate you every time you make coffeeJul 21, 2010
Two weeks ago our coffeemaker broke, so we rushed out to purchase another without doing my customary review search. Big mistake. As others have mentioned, the carafe spills coffee or water every time and it is virtually impossible to get the water from the carafe into the coffee maker as the opening is extremely small and at a very awkward angle. If I still had my receipt and the box I would return this extremely annoying coffeemaker. Don't be fooled by its good looks, high end appearance or brand name.

3Relase button WILL brakeJul 15, 2010
I am on site looking to buy a new coffee maker since you all were in fact correct! The slow release top lid button did brake and now the machine is useless! I'm sure the repair cost would not be worth it...so here I am shopping. Be gentle to your top lid buttons!

1DON'T BUY THIS!!!Jul 08, 2010
I have been a loyal and satisfied purchaser of Krups products for years, however, this coffeemaker should be recalled! The only thing that is great about it is how it looks, but as far as producing a decent cup of coffee goes---fagettaboutit!!!
Let me list its problems:
1. Can't pour the water into the well without it spilling
2. Can't see the water measurement inside the coffeemaker
3. Count on paper filter collapsing and covering the grounds
4. When the filter doesn't fold over during the coffee-making process, expect results to vary from a cup of hot water to muddy muck, no matter what kind of coffee you use
5. It makes so much noise when brewing that our cat runs and hides!
6. The glass pot spills "coffee" (I use that term loosely!) while pouring unless you are extremely careful to pour extra slowly
7. Krups, who advertises itself as providing the best customer service in the land will not do anything about it other than offer to "repair it" if you pay the shipping cost to their factory. REPAIR???? It needs to be redesigned b/c it doesn't work!!
8. Many stores have stopped selling it and those who do have dropped the price considerably
The above are just for starters!

1smells like burning plasticJul 01, 2010
Bought this to replace a 10yo krups coffee maker that had started to break down. The old krups worked well before it broke so I decided to continue with the same brand. This particular coffee maker looked nice, but the metal had gaps at the seams. It was extremely hard to pour water in without spilling everywhere, and the spilled water then leaked into the open seams making me wonder if it would have shorted out the machine in the future. Just putting hot water through caused a strong smell of burning plastic and I would be afraid to actually try to make any coffee and drink it. The burning plastic smell was the ultimate reason I decided to return it. It also released a lot of hot steam from the top, so would not be able to sit under something on your kitchen counter (i.e. a cabinet or microwave). I also read about problems with the handle coming apart from the carafe, as it is just glued on. My old krups was made in Mexico. This one is made in China and I am not surprised. Since this krups was bad, and my parents had tried the cuisinart brand and their coffee maker died after only a few months, I decided to go out an buy an expensive technivorm which is made in the Netherlands- I drink a lot of coffee daily and it is important to me to have a reliable well made machine- this krups was not it! I sent it back for a refund- thank you amazon for your easy return process.
